How to prepare zucchini, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Steam until tender, then blend until smooth.
- 9 to 11 months
- Small soft pieces or thick mash.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small diced pieces — soft enough to squash.
- 18 months and over
- Bite-size pieces they can self-feed.
Is zucchini an allergen?
Zucchini is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is zucchini good for babies?
Zucchini has a very mild, neutral flavour that blends well with stronger-tasting foods. Provides vitamin C, vitamin B6, and potassium. Its high water content and gentle fibre make it easy to digest — a great vegetable to mix into other purées when introducing new flavours.
