How to prepare turnip, age by age

6 to 8 months
Peel, steam until very soft, blend into a smooth purée.
9 to 11 months
Small soft mashed pieces.
12 to 17 months
Small tender cubes — roasted turnip is mild and sweet.
18 months and over
Bite-size roasted pieces.

Is turnip an allergen?

Turnip is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.

Is turnip good for babies?

Turnips are an underrated root vegetable with excellent nutritional value. Rich in vitamin C, fibre, and potassium. Their mild, slightly peppery flavour softens completely when cooked. Pairing with sweeter root vegetables like parsnip or carrot makes them more appealing to babies new to bitter notes.
