Can babies eat shrimp?
Shrimp is not suitable for younger babies. Once your baby is 1 year, prepare it as below. This is a common allergen (Crustaceans).

How to prepare shrimp, age by age
- 12 to 17 months
- Small minced pieces mixed into rice, pasta, or vegetables.
- 18 months and over
- Small bite-size pieces when chewing is well established.
Earlier ages are not shown because shrimp is not recommended before 1 year.
Is shrimp an allergen?
Shellfish allergy can be severe. Introduce carefully with other foods already established.

Is shrimp good for babies?
Shrimp is an excellent source of iodine — critical for thyroid function and brain development. Also high in complete protein, zinc, and selenium. As a shellfish, introduce carefully with other foods already established and no family history of shellfish allergy. Current guidelines support early introduction of allergens.
