Can babies eat pork?

How you cut and serve pork changes as your baby grows. That is set out age by age below.
How to prepare pork, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Cook until very tender, blend with cooking liquid into a smooth purée.
- 9 to 11 months
- Finely shredded tender pork mixed into soft foods.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small soft shredded or diced pieces.
- 18 months and over
- Small tender pieces — well cooked.
Is pork an allergen?
Pork is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is pork good for babies?
Pork is an excellent source of complete protein, zinc, and B vitamins — particularly B12 and B6, which support brain and nervous system development. Its natural fat content supports absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Slow cooking makes it tender enough to blend into smooth purées for young babies.
