How to prepare pear, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Steam until very tender, blend until completely smooth.
- 9 to 11 months
- Soft mashed or small steamed pieces.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small diced pieces — ripe raw pear is soft enough.
- 18 months and over
- Bite-size pieces with skin removed.
Is pear an allergen?
Pear is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is pear good for babies?
Pears are one of the least allergenic fruits, making them an ideal first food. Rich in vitamin C, copper, and fibre. Their mild sweetness and gentle digestive effect make them soothing for babies experiencing constipation or digestive discomfort.
