How to prepare halibut, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Steam until flaky and opaque, remove any bones, blend into a smooth purée.
- 9 to 11 months
- Finely flaked steamed halibut mixed into soft foods.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small flaked pieces with careful bone check.
- 18 months and over
- Small bite-size flaked pieces.
Is halibut an allergen?
Fish allergy is common. Introduce carefully — watch for reaction for 2 hours after first serving.

Is halibut good for babies?
Halibut is a premium lean white fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and complete protein. A single serving provides a meaningful amount of DHA — essential for brain and eye development. Its firm flesh holds together well when steamed, making it easy to flake for babies. Lower in mercury than larger fish.
