Can babies eat eggplant?
Eggplant is not suitable for younger babies. Once your baby is 9 months, prepare it as below.

How to prepare eggplant, age by age
- 9 to 11 months
- Small soft roasted pieces — peel removed.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small diced roasted pieces.
- 18 months and over
- Bite-size roasted pieces.
Earlier ages are not shown because eggplant is not recommended before 9 months.
Is eggplant an allergen?
Eggplant is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is eggplant good for babies?
Eggplant contains nasunin — a potent antioxidant in the purple skin that protects brain cell membranes. Rich in fibre, potassium, and B vitamins. Its mild flavour blends well with other vegetables. Roasting intensifies its natural flavour and creates a silky texture perfect for purées.
