How to prepare plum, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Steam and blend into a smooth purée, or use very ripe raw plum.
- 9 to 11 months
- Soft mashed pieces with skin removed.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small diced pieces — ripe plum is tender enough.
- 18 months and over
- Bite-size pieces with or without skin.
Is plum an allergen?
Plum is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is plum good for babies?
Plums are a natural digestive aid — their sorbitol content gently encourages bowel movements, making them useful for constipated babies. Rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, and antioxidant anthocyanins. Their sweet-tart flavour helps expand a baby's palate.
