Can babies eat pineapple?
Pineapple can be offered once your baby has started solids, prepared to suit their stage.

How to prepare pineapple, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Blend very ripe pineapple into a smooth purée. Cooking reduces acidity.
- 9 to 11 months
- Small soft pieces — cook briefly if baby has sensitive skin around mouth.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small pieces — ripe pineapple is tender and fibrous.
- 18 months and over
- Bite-size pieces as a finger food.
Is pineapple an allergen?
Pineapple is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is pineapple good for babies?
Pineapple contains bromelain, a natural enzyme that aids protein digestion. Rich in vitamin C and manganese, which supports bone formation. Introduce in small amounts initially — its acidity can cause a harmless rash around the mouth in some babies.
