How to prepare papaya, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Scoop ripe flesh and blend until completely smooth.
- 9 to 11 months
- Mashed flesh or soft small cubes.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small cubes — ripe papaya is naturally very soft.
- 18 months and over
- Small bite-size pieces they can self-feed.
Is papaya an allergen?
Papaya is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is papaya good for babies?
Papaya contains papain, a digestive enzyme that gently breaks down protein and soothes the digestive system. Rich in vitamin C, folate, and beta-carotene. Its soft, buttery texture requires no cooking, and its mild tropical flavour is well accepted by most babies.
