How to prepare cantaloupe, age by age
- 6 to 8 months
- Blend ripe flesh into a smooth purée.
- 9 to 11 months
- Soft diced pieces — very ripe cantaloupe requires no cooking.
- 12 to 17 months
- Small cubes — soft and easy to pick up.
- 18 months and over
- Bite-size pieces as a refreshing finger food.
Is cantaloupe an allergen?
Cantaloupe is not one of the main food allergens. Any new food can cause a reaction the first time it is offered, so give it on its own and stay with your baby while they eat.
Is cantaloupe good for babies?
Cantaloupe is one of the most hydrating foods for babies — over 90% water. Rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, and folate. Its natural sweetness makes it an appealing early food that helps babies accept other less-sweet vegetables when introduced alongside it.
